5. Think Carefully About Unlocking The Map

One of the most annoying things about playing Zombies with total randoms is that less-experienced players will often just frantically run around the map without any game-plan at all, spending their points unlocking new areas of the map without being sufficiently equipped to deal with what emerges.

To an extent, there is an obvious balancing act of giving yourself extra real estate to run around in while battling enemies, but you also risk leaving yourself over-exposed with too many zombie spawn points and not enough weaponry to fend them off.

Basically, don't be over-eager to unlock every shiny door you stumble across. Take a more modest approach if you want to have an easier time making it to the later stages.

This is one major area where voice chat is really useful, as you and your teammates can plan and discuss your route through the map rather than just going into business for yourselves.
