Call Of Duty: Every Game Ranked From Worst To Best

7. Call Of Duty

Call Of Duty Franchise
Activision

If anyone at Activision or Infinity Ward could have predicted that this original would go on to launch a million dollar micro-industry of its own, they would probably have raised a few board-room eyebrows. But Call Of Duty was a thing of beauty: original, entertaining and critically acclaimed.

Now it feels old and charming like retro games do, without anything like the sophistication or complexity of some of the games it spawned, but the foundation was strong and sturdy.

Arguably the biggest evolution feature came in the adoption of team-based gameplay - now such a strong element of COD releases - and while the campaign itself is almost laughably short, it was perfectly formed. it looked great at the time of release, it won numerous awards and was as close to Modern Warfare's impact as you could ever imagine now.
