3. More Interesting Maps
What is your favorite map in any Call of Duty game? I'll wait. But let me guess: was it an urban area with bombed out buildings, improvised cover, a few hallways to offer the illusion of long sight lines, perhaps? That description is fairly relevant to every Modern Warfare map. With few exceptions, they've all taken place in bombed out buildings or in the middle of urban chaos...except for Call of Duty 4's Shipment map, and only REAL MEN (and women) played Shipment. However, again, my main complaint is variety. Skidrow is similar to Downpour which resembles Bus Depot which resembles Refinery which resembles...I can go on. I don't mind urban environments, but can we add some variety? Also, a few more vertical sight-lines wouldn't hurt - maps in Call of Duty always have a horizontal feel to them. I feel if there were more accessible buildings or ladders or corners or heights, it could add a new, dynamic feel to firefights - as well as several, newer clashes to take control of these points. Even environmental hazards would be a refreshing addition - the water in Hydro or the lava in the incorrectly-named level Magma offer a nice touch. Again, these are creative areas where Treyarch is happy to experiment with, but Activision comes up short. I would just prefer to see creativity in level design, instead of the same abandoned streets with bombed out buildings.
