Call Of Duty: Ranking Every Game Mode From Worst To Best

14. War (WW2)

Call Of Duty Modes
Activision

War plays out on three exclusive maps. On each, attackers are given up to four objectives to complete whilst the defenders are tasked with stopping them. Many are heavily weighted in the favour of one team over the other and an unprepared team (such as one that brings no smoke grenades to build the bridge on Operation Breakout) will quickly find themselves on the losing end of proceedings.

The mode's most unique attribute is that kills and deaths are not counted towards a player's overall total. This is a welcome addition given that playing the objectives on the attacking team results in death after merciless death. Given that soldier and weapon XP are still given, however, it is not uncommon seeing an entire team ignoring their orders in an attempt to farm sniper kills. This can make some games unpleasant slogs given that they typically last upwards of fifteen minutes even if one team is whitewashed.

Best enjoyed in a full party given that coordination is key, War is a step in the right direction (though still far from perfect) when it comes to offering better mode variety.
