15. Slasher
A far superior twist to Timesplitters' timeless Virus formula than Infected, Slasher was criminally available for players for a cumulative total of less than a month, popping up in Modern Warfare Remastered on the occasional weekend throughout 2017, losing out to Prop Hunt in a vote to become a permanent game mode.
Both would've been deserving winners given that they are amongst the best innovations that the series has created in years.
Unlike in Infected, the randomly selected host (the titular slasher, though this is somewhat misleading given that they are armed with a shovel) cannot be killed by the pistols wielded by other players, only slowed.
Arguably easier than its counterpart given that the players caught by the slasher only become spectators rather than additional hosts, the mode nevertheless generates an exhilarating survival experience, growing tenser and tenser as the field narrows and the remaining players attempt to stay one step ahead of their pursuer.
Playing as the slasher is perhaps the most fun that the mode has to offer, rivalled only by being the last player standing, which results in the bestowment of a shovel and a battle to the death.
