Crash Bandicoot: Ranking Every N. Sane Trilogy Boss Battle

2. Neo Cortex - Crash Bandicoot

Crash Bandicoot Sane Trilogy Cortex
Vicarious Visions

Cortex's first appearance is still his best yet. It typified the first Crash game in providing a difficulty spike to impale yourself on when compared to proceeding bosses Pinstripe Potoroo and Dr N. Brio.

The setting is memorable too, putting you on Cortex's blimp as you desperately scramble to avoid the electric orbs he fires at you from his jet powered hoverboard. Even the background of the labratory burning fits perfectly, considering both Pinstripe Potoroo and N. Brio caused considerable damage as they went down.

Having overcome The High Road, Slippery Climb and The Lab to get here, you'll be expecting a challenge, and Cortex is happy to provide it. His hit bar is a respectable five points long, but considering you need to fire two projectiles in order to get it down, it's essentially nine points. Combine that with having to dodge the non deflectable energy balls while keeping your options open to spin some back, and this boss battle takes a lot more strategy than the usual. You can't just wait for the opening here. You have to make it yourself.
