Dark Souls: 10 Hidden Secrets You Won't Believe You Missed

7. Saving Knight Solaire

Knight Solaire Why wouldn't you want to save Knight Solaire? You remember him right? He's the dude who's looking at the sun in the distance just after you beat the big-ass demon on the bridge at the top of the Undead Burg. He's also the man who invites you to a bit of jolly co-operation and loves praising a bit of the sun. You may also have noticed that Solaire can be summoned a few times throughout the game to help you with boss fights (provided you're in human form, of course). What you might not know however is that Solaire does in fact have his own totally unique sidequest. If you don't solve it, Solaire will die, and will not be available for the rest of the game. Like many things in Dark Souls, you'd absolutely not know about this unless you were told. To save Knight Solaire, you need to go to the bottom of Blighttown (awful place), where you bested the highly annoying Chaos Witch Queelag (after about 50 tries, in my case). You'll then need to head to the bottom of the area and strike the walls until one disappears. Inside you'll find Queelag's hideously deformed sister, who also invites you to join the Covenant Chaos Servant. This covenant is extremely important in saving Solaire, so make sure you do it! Once you've all joined up, you must offer a total of 30 Humanity to Queelag's Sister. Doing so will open a shortcut from the Demon Ruins directly into Lost Izalith. If you follow this path, you can find the unique red-eyed Chaos Bug, kill it, and thus prevent it from killing Knight Solaire later in the game. With this done, you'll find Solaire later on the very same path, and can talk to him once more. Solaire will then be able to be summoned for the final boss fight against Gwyn, the Lord of Cinder. If you didn't do this quest, Solaire will remain extremely dead.
