Darksiders 3 Review: 5 Ups & 4 Downs

1. Up: Stunning Art Design

While the graphics have never been the appeal of the Darksiders series, the eye-popping art design quickly makes up for it. So many enemy designs and boss lairs look like wacky, other-worldly concept art that was brought to life superbly. Even when the visuals aren't especially impressive, the landscapes and character designs will keep you taking screenshots.

A spine-tingling spider nest covered with pods and former prey, volcanic lairs that'd make a Bond villain blush, all of it is endlessly enjoyable to just stop and stare. The love and care put into the initial art itself that was then painstakingly brought to life are much appreciated. Whenever the world feels underutilized or underexplored, it's the art that does the storytelling for the developers.

Given the tech to provide resolution on-par with 2018's biggest blockbuster games, Darksiders 4 could easily provide one of the most visually-striking gaming experiences in recent memory. Pair it with a photo mode and you'd get so many players continually dying simply because they're trying to get that perfect screen grab.
