Days Gone: 10 Gameplay Details You Need To Know
7. Freakers Aren’t The Only Enemy
Freakers,
though terrifying and numerous, aren’t the only walking hazard in Days Gone.
Many of the living are also out to kill; marauders are sprinkled throughout the
open world environment, often set up in small encampments, they are always
looking for an opportunity to attack. Additionally, infected wildlife can also
pose a serious threat.
The variety of enemies also encompasses another dynamic system within the game called the Enemy Faction system. This lets you utilize foes against one another, our first glimpse of this system in action was seen during the E3 gameplay footage when Deacon weaponize a Freaker Horde by blowing up a barricade near a marauder encampment. Destroying the barricade unleashed the horde onto the unsuspecting marauders, turning adversaries into a tool rather than an obstacle.
It will be interesting to see how in-depth this system goes. If we're able to be the pied piper of Freaker Hordes throughout the world it will certainly become a handy tool to utilize during gameplay. If there are just a few set points during the story campaign where this option is available however then it'll be nothing more than a enticing -yet disappointing- gimmick.
