Devil May Cry 5: 8 Insanely Promising New Features

7. Large-Scale Boss Fights

Demons come in all shapes and sizes. On one end of the spectrum, there's the hellish, centaur-like monstrosities wreathed in flame like Berial and on the other, humanoid seductresses a la Devil May Cry 3's Nevan, but even the former, who towers over any human or white-haired Nephilim, still isn't particularly large.

In fact, traditionally speaking, Capcom has always refrained from presenting players with building-sized bosses until the end-game, but this time, there won't be any breaking the player in gently.

Thus far, only one of Devil May Cry 5's bosses - the Goliath - has been revealed, but in just that one encounter, it's obvious that Capcom's trying something new with the long-awaited sequel. Besides the size befitting that of an Earth-conquering demon, Nero's face-off against Goliath is a multi-stage affair requiring different tactics for each phase.

Following the terrific encounters with Lillith and Bob Barbas cooked up by Ninja Theory for its one-off reboot, Capcom needed to step up its game by not relying on the same static encounters present in vintage Devil May Cry, and if each of Devil May Cry 5's big nasties are as visually and mechanically satisfying as Goliath, it'll have done just that.
