Dragon Age Inquisition: 16 Weird Easter Eggs You Might Have Missed

6. More Than Meets The Eye (Transformers?)

Here's an easter egg many eagle-eyed players might not have spotted, since it was a world-building, non quest-related codex entry that hides its references cleverly.

Possibly referencing an even larger version of the ones seen in Dragon Age 2, the codex entry in question describes the Gate Guardians in the Western Approach, using phrases hiding references to existing characters and terms in the popular Transformers toy line.

The phrase "more than met the eye" is almost word for word with the "More Than Meets The Eye" lyric in the iconic series theme song. The words "deceptive icon" are a reference to their villainous counterparts, the Decepticons. One sentence includes the words "optimal" and "primal" in succession, referring to Transformers leader Optimus Prime. The words "energy on" and their description referenced the Transformers's power source, Energon, and the "Mage Atronis" is a reference to the Decepticon's leader, Megatron.

Someone was clearly a fan of this long-running franchise, and with the many, many codices that a player can find in this expansive game, this isn't the only codex to reference other popular media in such a way.
