Dungeons And Dragons 5e: How To Pick Your Class

A blessing and a curse, the Warlock’s inherent class feature provides some of the most intriguing role-playing opportunities in the game. Gaining magical talents from a supremely powerful Patron, a warlock could be an emissary for a lord of the Fey, borrowing powers from a Lovecraftian nightmare they themselves don’t comprehend, or literally bargaining with the devil.

All of these seem like a heavy price to pay until you dig into the Warlock’s suite of abilities. Though they have what appears to be a rather limited spell list, the Warlock is further enhanced by Eldritch Invocations, unique abilities to the Warlock that provide a host of enhanced abilities, ranging from being able to see even in magical darkness, to several spells that can be cast at will, rather than relying on your pitiful number of spell slots.

Furthermore, Warlock’s alone gain the Eldritch Blast cantrip, the absolute best cantrip in the game, THAT'S RIGHT I SAID IT, MINOR ILLUSION, AND I DON'T CARE. This force-damaging spell is a staple of their abilities that can be further augmented with invocations to double its range, push and pull enemies or stack damage, and can eventually be fired two or three times per combat round. Should you find yourself in need of a much-needed boost, why not make a deal and try the Warlock out.
