Dungeons And Dragons: Ranking Every Official 5e Module Worst To Best

4. Lost Mine Of Phandelver

Rise Of Tiamat
Wizards Of The Coast

The Lost Mine of Phandelver is a very well-received module for Dungeons and Dragons and a fantastic starting point for any new players. The short campaign will see your players go from level 1-5 as they seek hidden caves and try to unravel the secrets surrounding the town of Phandalin.

The best part about this adventure is that its location is rather unspecified. That means that it could be placed comfortably in any setting, whether that be official or homebrew. The adventure works as a great jumping-off point for any future adventures.

The Module included a good selection of missions, from dungeon delving to social encounters. Your players are going to see all sides of Dungeons and Dragons. There are a few issues however. The first encounter with goblins can be rather deadly for level one players. You may need to tweak the encounter or make them level two just to be sure. Another problem is that the main boss is a little lacklustre. This can be rectified by making him a minion of a larger threat. This will also help when leading to another adventure.

If you’re a first-time player, this kit also contains a rulebook, dice, and some pre-generated characters. A perfect set for the first time DM.
