Epic Games sold off and parted ways with the Gears of War franchise - one of the Xbox 360's most popular series' - at the start of the year. Promptly, Microsoft moved the franchise to Black Tusk, one of their Canadian development studios. Luckily, Rod Fergusson is in charge who was important to the series at Epic in the past, which is a great sign moving forward. Gears of War 4 (if it's even called that being we've already had Gears of War Judgment) is still in very early stages of development, so a wealth of news isn't to be expected at this point. With that being said, the game's tease shortly before E3 seemed to point towards a teaser of some kind debuting at the Microsoft conference. At the very least, gamers hoped to see a prominently displayed logo, character voice over, CG teaser - anything. Instead, Gears of War was nowhere to be seen. Perhaps Microsoft didn't want Gears stealing the limelight from other projects like Halo 5: Guardians, but it's hard to believe that more exclusive games could ever be perceived as a remotely bad thing. Oh well, maybe next year?
