1. Titanfall

Oh wow, another shooter! Well to be fair it at least looks like a fairly interesting shooter, yet it still works with the same old tropes. Set in what is essentially a high tech version of our current world, you play a rough voice bloke with a gun (surprise surprise) who can jump up building by bouncing off walls (think Mario) and take control of big robots, imaginatively called Titans, which are essential just the main character but eight foot taller. Its not all cliché though. By the look of the trailer, players are going against the American army rather than mindlessly following their orders for a change, with the voiceover suggesting the playable character has been labelled as a terrorist. Thus the game isnt quite at the Vanquish level of knock-off, so thats something to be celebrated I guess... and besides, this is the sort of title Xbox fans tend to gravitate towards, so it makes sense that Microsoft would include it in their conference. However, the game doesnt look anything special, and if youve ever played Fuse, Inversion, Army of Two, Kane and Lynch, Bionic Commando, or Mindjack, youve probably already experienced all Titanfall has to offer. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=goe6IB1DLZU Despite the console being astonishingly anti-consumer, its good to see Microsoft focus on video-games for once, something theyve failed to do over the last couple of E3s and in their initial Xbox One announcement.
