13. Ryse: Son Of Rome

Despite spelling its own title wrong (Ryse is pronounced Rise), this game set during the times of the Roman Empire looks pretty amazing. The gameplay showed the player as a Centurion battling enemy forces on a blood soaked beach, making your way slowly towards a large burning city. Ships crash on the shore and soldiers, or perhaps slaves forced into fighting, jump out to attack you. After this brief battle is over, the player forms a wall of shields with his allies to survive the onslaught of arrows coming from overhead, though it is unclear whether this action was initiated by the player or if it was a scripted event. Sadly the combat looked rather dull, with half of it consisting of QTEs and the other half looking quite slow and clunky. However, something of possible interest is the commands the player character kept giving to his fellow soldiers, as it indicates the player gets to experience the role of a commander rather than simply trudging through another hack-and-slash adventure. The game is exclusive to Xbox One at release; whether this means itll later be coming to the PS4 is unclear, as it might just be a badly worded way of saying this is a launch title, but for now we should assume this isnt the case.
