E3 2016: Battlefield 1 - 10 New Gameplay Details You Need To Know
2. Artillery Is Vital In Multiplayer
The First World War is a statistician's dream; for all the wrong reasons of course, but still, a dream.
For example, during the week before the Battle of the Somme, the British Army launched a staggering 1,700,000 artillery shells at the German lines. Of course we know this was incredibly ineffective against the German units entrenched in their positions, and would later play a role in one the worst military disasters of the war, but it goes some way in demonstrating just how catastrophically artillery was relied upon at the time.
Battlefield's E3 trailer also placed heavy emphasis on the use of artillery, particularly howitzer guns, bombs, and tank shells. One of the Frostbite engine's many selling points is that it can chronicle destruction immaculately, and when you realise just how much Battlefield has reiterated the primacy of destruction in combat before, its role in changing the terrain of multiplayer becomes evermore apparent.
When players bring down the Zeppelin it completely levels everything underneath it. We can easily assume that the village it crashed into was blown to smithereens upon landing, and that pretty much nearly everything else in the game will be prone to getting blown up too.
For players looking to unleash their inner Michael Bay, Battlefield promises to bring countless ways of exploding your enemies.
