E3 2017: 22 Jaw-Dropping Video Game Reveals You Need To Know About
4. Metroid: Samus Returns
Back to Nintendo, and whilst there was a far larger Metroid-based announcement that I'll get to later, the company slyly tipped the nod to hardcore fans with a total remake of 1991's Metroid II.
Now called 'Samus Returns' (a play on 'The Return of Samus'), it's a complete graphical overhaul, complete with a new freedom of movement when it comes to aiming which now allows 360° of attack. It's a small change, but will actually have a pretty meaningful impact to the moment-to-moment gameplay of blasting the encroaching alien hordes, as Samus can take them out from any direction.
Nintendo are also adding melee counter-attacks and tons of new powers, helping with the game's legendary difficulty. Lastly, they're even adding a 'Scan Pulse' to aid in navigation around the map itself, as we've all played Metroidvania games, only to get stuck not knowing where to head next.
All in all, the perfect way to bring an old classic up to date.
