E3 2018: Predicting Release Dates For The Biggest Games
6. Cyberpunk 2077
CD Projekt RED's sci-fi RPG has been in development for years and years, and a 50-minute behind-closed-doors demo shown at E3 has blown away pretty much every journalist lucky enough to see it.
Though many remarked that the game resembled a next-gen title, the developer is reportedly aiming for current-gen platforms, meaning it should be in players' hands within the next two years.
It's also worth noting that the game's creator Mike Pondsmith stated in an E3 interview that the game was "a few years" away.
Prediction: March 13, 2020. Historically CDPR favours May release dates, but with the possibility of next-gen consoles actually releasing by that time, it wouldn't be a smart move.
Rather, Cyberpunk will likely end one of the very last current-gen tentpoles, and fingers crossed it'll conclude the generation on an absolute cracker. Then again, CDPR famously has a "when it's done" attitude, so don't be totally shocked if it gets pushed to later in 2020 or even 2021 and becomes a next-gen title.
