E3 2019: 12 Insane Announcements That Could Happen
2. Bungie Announces New Game, Matter
At the very beginning of 2019, shocking news emerged that Bungie and Activision were going their separate ways. After signing an exclusive deal in 2013 for four Destiny games, and four expansions before 2020, the two companies decided to call it a day.
Activision had stated in the weeks prior that it was unhappy with the sales performance of Destiny 2, and it was clear Bungie weren't going to deliver on three Destiny games by 2020, let alone four.
With both companies doing their own thing, it seems everyone is happier. However it wasn't long until Bungie had signed a new deal with Chinese company, NetEase, reported to be worth $100 million. Bungie said that they would be using the money to put out a new game with NetEase, but appeased Destiny fans by saying there would be two development teams working on two games.
Then the company filed the trademark for Matter, with the colourful logo seen above. That's literally all we know about Matter, but, based on Bungie's FPS history, it's fair to assume it will be yet another live services shooter. Will it be free-to-play? Will it be sci-fi? Will it be at E3 2019? It's pretty unlikely, but far from impossible.
