EA Sports UFC: 10 Fighter Ratings That Must Be Upgraded
4. Josh Thompson
EA SportsOverall: 89
Striking: 88
Ground : 89
Submissions: 92
The ex-Strikeforce champions career is in a forlorn place right now. At the age of 35 the man who has been fighting since 2001 will very soon be showing visible signs of his athletic decline. If he is ever going to hold UFC gold the 155-pounder needs to make something happen and fast. The most frustrating thing about all of this is that in his last fight, Thompson in the eyes of everyone BUT the judges beat former-champion Benson Henderson despite having suffered a broken hand early in the fight. This injury didnt deter Thompson who switched from trading blows with Benson to grappling with him. A win over Bendo could well have been enough to get Thompson a UFC title shot. Prior to this disappointing and undeserved loss against Henderson, Thompson had looked ultra-impressive against Nate Diaz; delivering the younger Diaz brother the first TKO loss of his career with a sublime head kick. Despite this memorable win Josh is still rated as being Nates inferior on EA Sports UFC. Similarly, the man who comprehensively outgrappled Benson Henderson has been given an inferior ground rating than the ex-champ. EA have inexplicably been brutally harsh on Thompson who is quite clearly one of the best fighters at 155-lbs.
