EA Sports UFC: 10 Fighters Who Must Be Downgraded

10. Conor McGregor

Overall: 90Striking: 89Ground : 86Submissions: 90 As we are a UK-based website, the observation that Conor McGregor €“ the best MMA fighter to have ever come out of Ireland €“ has been completely overrated on the new UFC game may be an unpopular one. However, the fact of the matter is that the Dubliner is too unproven in the top tier promotion of MMA to warrant an overall rating in the 90s. It is his combination of a flashy, exciting striking style with his undeniable charisma which has generated so much hype around the 25-year-old prospect. However, all this excitement has blinded us from the fact that he has fought only twice in the UFC against mid-to-low level opponents. How an earth can such a high rating be justified to a man who is yet so unproven? McGregor is set to have the biggest fight of his career this time next month as he faces the fearsome Diego Brandao in the main event of the Dublin card. Even if he is victorious against this tougher opponent, it would be hard to say that Conor€™s rating isn€™t a little generous. What is particularly galling about McGregor€™s rating is that the strongest area of his skills has been judged to be his submissions. Not only has the Irishman picked up but a single submission victory in his 16-fight career, but both his loses have come via submission so you can€™t even argue that he deserves this rating from a defensive standpoint. They literally seem to have picked this submission stat out of a hat. Suggested Overall Rating: 85
