Elden Ring - 6 CONFIRMED Details About G.R.R. Martin & FromSoftware's RPG
6. Co-Created & Written By George RR Martin & Hidetaka Miyazaki
Almost like it was set up to top "Hideo Kojima joins forces with Guillermo del Toro for Silent Hills" from 2014, Elden Ring's entire mythos is conceptualised and realised by George R.R. Martin and Hidetaka Miyazaki working together.
The leaked official description reads:
"ELDEN RING, developed by FromSoftware, Inc. and BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment Inc., is a fantasy action-RPG adventure set within a world created by Hidetaka Miyazaki – creator of the influential DARK SOULS video game series; and George R.R. Martin – author of The New York Times best-selling fantasy series, A Song of Ice and Fire."
Honestly, it's beyond perfect. Martin's approach to storytelling has always been in granularity. He famously questioned the end of Lord of the Rings by asking, "... but what was Aragorn's tax policy?", delving into the race-relations between the remaining orcs and their human overseers, among other details only he would think of.
Miyazaki too grew up inventing his own stories and plot connections between pictures he would see in English-written books. As he wasn't fluent in the language, this idea of "image first, lore later" went on to exemplify why FromSoftware's titles (and especially Dark Souls) became so popular.
Combined, I can't wait to see what the pair have conjured up together.
