Elden Ring - 6 CONFIRMED Details About G.R.R. Martin & FromSoftware's RPG
5. You're On A Quest To Kill Various Rulers And Take Their Powers/Abilities
First being discussed in light of the Gematsu leak, it's awesome to read that FromSoftware have managed to essentially make "open-world Dark Souls".
Now coming from Gamespot's writeup, it seems Elden Ring's main progression is open-world exploration, but centred on visiting a number of kingdoms/areas to fell their rulers, "acquiring abilities and supernatural powers" to take forward.
They then posit it's essentially Great Lord Wolnir's actions from Dark Souls 3 writ large; a figure bounding from one place to the next, only growing in power by felling the competition.
For me though, this is totally "open world Dark Souls", as while that game was already freeform and exploration-heavy, if we imagine The Witcher 3 with Souls-style bosses for the "rulers" in question, it's the best of both worlds.
