Every Batman Video Game Ranked From Worst To Best
13. Batman Begins
It's kind of wild that for as successful as the Christopher Nolan Batman films were at the box office only one tie-in video game ever released to accompany them - EA's Batman Begins, which released in 2005. (A tie-in for The Dark Knight was in production from Pandemic Studios, but was cancelled by EA after suffering problems during development, thus opening the door up for Rocksteady to make Batman: Arkham Asylum.)
Begins is fairly unremarkable as far as video games are concerned, but as a tie-in it's actually quite exceptional. Most movie tie-in video games have tended to be pretty abject, but the Batman Begins video game managed to offer a decent enough retelling of the film and it had some pretty neat ideas as far as gameplay was concerned too.
To the game's credit, Batman Begins understood that a fully immersive Batman video game had to be both action oriented and stealthy. Combat wasn't anything exceptional, but it did the job and served as a neat entrée to the game's main gimmick - a fear meter which could be built up over time through stealth and allow players to take down an enemy with one blow.
There's nothing in Begins that other, non-Batman titles already did better for the time, but it is perhaps underrated when compared to the Caped Crusader's other video game adaptations.
