While it's fair to say that most players who boot up a Batman title want the complete experience - as in being able to play as Batman and all the aspects that role embodies - there's nothing to say that a title centred around just the Batmobile would be bad.

It's the coolest ride in Batman's arsenal after all, and burning rubber through the streets of Gotham should be fun on paper.

Unfortunately Gotham City Racer - the only console Bat-title to put the above theory into practice - was anything but fun. It was another Ubisoft title developed for the PlayStation and was once again inspired by the DC Animated Universe, but it ended up being a real chore to play.

The Batmobile handles terribly, and the sound design is just as bad.
