Every Call Of Duty Campaign Ranked Worst To Best
2. Modern Warfare
CoD 4 was where the franchise really outdid itself. The narrative, game design and characterisations made the first Modern Warfare a force to be reckoned with, playing like a well crafted movie whilst also being the most sublime first-person shooter of the generation.
Introducing players to Captain Price and Soap, the game remains the most well written of the series, and between the top tier villains and the unbeatable sniper missions - the best of which takes place in Pripyat after the Chernobyl disaster - there's no wonder Modern Warfare became such a beloved phenomenon.
Since the game's multiplayer was (and still is) its most praised addition, it can be hard to recall just how remarkable the campaign is. There are no dull missions, no out of place characters, and no half-baked twists or set designs.
Every level is a masterpiece in game design, which is evident from just how re-playable but effective it remains after all these years.
