Judgment is a spin-off from the much-loved Yakuza franchise, which is flying high right now following a recent surge in popularity with western gamers.

The game takes place in the series' fictional city of Kamurocho, with the player investigating a serial killer's activities.

Despite the superficial similarities to Yakuza, though, the gameplay is said to combine beat 'em up carnage with investigative puzzle-solving, and a story more in the vein of a legal thriller.

Early reviews from its recent Japanese release have been largely positive, even if it doesn't look like it's going to veer too far from the Yakuza formula, which some fans might argue is already feeling rather tired.

Still, if it retains the addictive arcade-y combat and tonal assurance of the Yakuza titles, it'll be an easy hit for fans.

As for its exclusivity, producer Kazuki Hosokawa has stated that Judgment could come to PC in the future - as the more recent Yakuza games finally have - but nothing is formally in the works yet.
