With the timing, quality and even the safety of Bethesda’s official merchandise heavily criticised, it was no surprise to find out that the company planned on making good many of these issues. First and foremost, was replacing the canvas bag.
Bethesda quoted a four to six months wait time to deliver a bag made of quality materials, with fans forced to wait patiently to receive the item they expected in the first place. In order to get the real bag, fans simply needed to fill out a short information form on the company website. Seems open and shut right? well, not quite.
As if things weren’t already teetering on a knifes edge, the next blunder to befall Bethesda is so unbelievable, that you couldn’t make it up. In a worrying, but equally ironic turn of events, all the personal information that consumers had given in order to receive their new bag, had unintentionally been leaked online.
In a mad scramble to rectify their dangerous mistake, the entire website was forced to be shut down. The chaos caused by this leak epitomises how many of these controversies ultimately unfolded - well intentioned, but not always, well executed.
