7. More Varied Environments
Thanks to the upgraded engine, Fallout 4 can finally properly showcase the wide array of diverse and interesting environments that make up its game world. Both Fallout 3 and New Vegas suffered from a rather bland wasteland to explore, with the oppressive grey rubble of the third game especially making for a largely repetitive and mundane journey every single time you had to travel to a new location. Fortunately, Bethesda proved they had the ability to create a brilliantly diverse game world with Skyrim, whose beautiful snowy mountain tops were only a five minute walk from lush, warm greenery. It seems that the developers have carried this mentality over to its newest release, with Fallout 4's Boston being home to a wealth of distinct and memorable inter-connecting locations. With grey post-apocalyptic landscapes being a dime-a-dozen in 2015, adding more colour to the world of Fallout will only serve to keep Bethesda's game feeling unique after the genre's recent over-saturation.
