The labelling of weapons to match their real-world counterparts is something the original games had that was lost when Bethesda took over - yet it's a simple fix that would aid immensely in pleasing the fans of Black Isle's original titles. Quite exactly why this more accurate method of inventory management was removed is anyone's guess (especially when the world itself is clearly labelled as Boston), but obviously whatever meetings were held to nail down the concept aren't going to be abating any time soon. Part of the character of Fallout's newer world is creating weapons with names like the Fat Man or the Mesmetron, and they're not about to go back on such a defining decision now.
