Fallout 4: 12 Disturbing Stories & Locations You Totally Missed
7. Pretty Much Everything With Mannequins
Mannequins are terrifying. All the way through playing Fallout 4 I expected at least one to be a synth in hiding, ready to strike me down as soon as my back was turned. Unfortunately for me, mannequins take on a much more sinister role during the course of the game's campaign.Although they don't actually come alive (that we know of), the way they're set up around the Wasteland often tells a better post-apocalyptic story through visuals than Bethesda ever could with words. Someone had to move these things around (or did they? I'm still not sold that they aren't at least a little sentient). Still, every time you see mannequins you've got to wonder: who put them there?
For instance, in the image above, did the long-dead skeleton place the mannequins in those poses before committing suicide or did some maniac position them at some point after the bombs fell to pass the time? Either way, the implications are pretty horrible, and the way scenes like this get your brain working is one of the creepiest ways Bethesda's game can get completely under your skin.
