Fallout 5: 13 Things We Want To See
9. A Totally New Engine
Fallout 4 does not play like a game released in 2015, regardless of how fun it is. It uses the Creation Engine, which is based on the woefully outdated Gamebryo engine, and as such it's none-too-surprising that you can feel the game struggling to keep up with the demands of modern systems, resulting in horribly-optimised gameplay.
Fallout 5 needs a totally new engine designed from scratch, and though this will require a ton of work, it will hopefully result in a more streamlined overall experience, with less glitches, faster loading times and an overall more fluid experience, even considering the mind-melting array of objects the game will have to account for.
How Likely Is It?: This one actually could happen, given the obvious strain FO4 put on the Creation Engine.
It's most likely that FO5 will run on some sort of Frankenstein hybrid engine rather than something entirely new, but given that the next core game probably won't release until 2020 or later, dining out on the current engine once again would be extremely ill-advised. 6/10
