Fallout: Ranking Every Vault From Least To Most Horrifying

2. Vault 11 - Testing Human Nature With Sacrifice

The Mohave Wasteland's Vault 11 is a grim one.

Appearing in Fallout: New Vegas, Vault 11 was made to test human nature itself.

How did Vault-Tech decide to test this? Well, they told all of the inhabitants of the Vault that every year they must sacrifice one of their number, otherwise the Vault's computer would kill them all instead.

That's bad enough, but the reality of the situation is even worse. The dwellers followed the instructions and sacrificed someone every single year until there were just five of them left.

At this point, they decided that they were sick of the sacrifices, and the truth was revealed: the computer was never going to kill them, and instead they receive a message which states "your commitment to human life is a shining example to us all".

The door lock of the Vault then disengages, letting them all out if they so wish.

That's only after countless years of democratically sending someone to be slaughtered, even though they didn't need to be.

Yeah...as we said: pretty grim.
