Far Cry 5 Review: 7 Ups & 3 Downs
1. The World Is Beautiful
The most noticeable thing about Far Cry 5 right out the gate is how outstandingly gorgeous it is, even looking fantastic on older hardware.
This is especially uplifting after all of the problems that Ubisoft have had with downgrading in the past. It looks like those days are behind us though, as Far Cry 5 is a stunner in pretty much every way.
The detailed textures, the amazing pop-up and depth to the world, and even the character models, everything in Far Cry 5 has a polish to it that Ubisoft definitely need to keep up. The Far Cry series has always been absolutely gorgeous, but many were expecting the less exotic locale of Hope County to bring this effect down. Luckily, it hasn't in the slightest.
Some of the best moments in Far Cry 5 come from simply turning off the game's HUD, getting on the wing of a plane and just watching the world go by. There aren't many games where that's legitimately enjoyable.
