3. The First Game Was Made To Celebrate 1994 World Cup

The FIFA series was born thanks to EA being inspired by the 1994 World Cup, held in the United States. Released on DOS, Amiga, Sega CD, 3DO, SNES, Mega Drive/Genesis, Master System, Sega Game Gear and Game Boy, the Genesis version had three exclusive teams which qualified for the real-life tournament - Bolivia, Saudi Arabia and South Korea. However, despite this, the "USA League" in future editions of the series only featured clubs from the country's A League - the USA's second division - with the MLS not being implemented until 2000. The first ever FIFA game was available to play on the PlayStation 2 version of FIFA 06.
