1. Thibaut Courtois - Chelsea

Similar to ter Stergen, Courtois only turned 23 at the end of last season and still has years and years ahead of him to develop.

The Belgian superstar rose to prominence during the 2013/14 season while on loan at Atletico Madrid. The then 21 year old became the clubs first choice keeper almost immediately and he took to the challenge like a seasoned pro. Atletico went on to win La Liga and finished runners up in the Champions League before Courtois returned to parent club, Chelsea.

The shot stopper has it all. He displaced one of the greatest goalkeepers of recent history in Cech, establishing himself as the top dog at Stamford Bridge. His reliability from set pieces, accurate distribution and agility mark him out as a very difficult man to beat as well as a springboard from which to attack.

It's highly unlikely that you will be able to sign him, but if you are at a rich, reputable club and in need of a long term goalkeeper then Courtois will almost certainly be the best in the game.

Are there any other goalkeepers that didn't make the list but deserve a place? Leave them in the comments below.
