FIFA 17: 10 Players Who Will Be Downgraded
1. Eden Hazard
What on earth happened to Eden Hazard last season? Riyad Mahrez will be praying that he doesn’t suffer the same fate as the previous winner of the PFA Player of the Year Award.
In the space of a year, the Chelsea forward went from one of the most fearsome attackers in world football to a cowering shadowy figure whose primal instincts seemed to have deserted him. Having netted 19 goals the previous season, the Blues finisher failed to bag a Premier League until the end of April. It was an ignominious statistic for a man who had been so prolific and assured in front of goal the previous season.
He enjoyed a brief renaissance towards the end of the season, where he showed glimpses of the form which earned him accolades galore during the 14/15 season. He would still have an important role to play in the title race, despite Chelsea having exited it before Christmas, his solo run and finish against Spurs the killer blow to their hopes.
Again, he showed further signs of his confidence slowly returning at Euro 2016, where he was applauded off the pitch following a virtuoso display against Hungary in the last 16, but he was rather ineffective in their quarter-final defeat to Wales.
He is sure to be dealt a lower rating following the year he’s endured.
