FIFA 19: 10 Players Who Deserve A Rating Downgrade

5. Wayne Rooney

Last Year's Rating: 81

As his career winds down, the position Wayne Rooney takes on the pitch continues to drop deeper. At new club DC United in MLS, he's sitting in the old Andrea Pirlo midfield role, and his job is to both spring attacks with defence-destroying passes and marshall the defensive back line just behind him.

That's a role Rooney is well-suited to. The ex-Man Utd and Everton man has always been a bit of an on-the-field general, and that's true even when losing some speed or agility. Unfortunately for 'Fat Boy' (José Mourinho's words, not ours), EA were being a little too generous when they handed him an 81 rating in FIFA 18.

Come FIFA 19, that should change.

Granted, it won't be by much. Rooney is still deserving of an 80, for example, but his journey from the heights of Premier League football to North America must be taken into consideration.
