FIFA 20 Career Mode: 10 Ways EA Can REALLY Fix It
4. Genuine Difficulty
So-called 'Ultimate' difficulty is anything but in FIFA 20. Anyone selecting a "real challenge" may find that AI opponents are actually worse than they were on Semi-Pro, which is a bit daft. The lack of difficulty in Career Mode is baffling, and it has been for years.
Again, there's little punishment for failure, and zero sign that CPU teams are scouting your play style, tactics or go-to formation. As a result, matches play out like a grind once you know how to exploit the AI's limited intelligence, and it turns what should be a breath-taking sample of management life into a situation duller than that UEFA Super Cup final between Chelsea and Arsenal.
Sorry to remind you of that one.
If EA are going to tout something scary like 'Ultimate' challenge (WrestleMania VI?), then they need to have the chops to back it up on the field. Choosing to dive headfirst into a brutal side of footy management should come with pitfalls, not apathy.
