FIFA 20 Career Mode: 10 Ways EA Can REALLY Fix It
5. Playing As Real Life Managers & Former Players
Here's another winner from Konami.
PES 2020 enlisted the likenesses of real football icons like Johan Cruyff, Diego Maradona, Roberto Carlos, Lothar Matthäus and others this year. They're all selectable before entering the meat of Master League matters, and that kind of real-world harmony adds to the game's immersion level.
Over in FIFA land, whilst it is great to create a gaffer from scratch finally, no such options exist. Starting a Career Mode as Jürgen Klopp or bringing José Mourinho's sad little face back in the cold is impossible. There isn't even the chance to play as iconic faces EA drafted in for Ultimate Team, like Andrea Pirlo or City's own Pep Guardiola, either.
Why not? This is a simple joy that FIFA's Career Mode requires if it's going to lift above mediocrity. Painstaking presentation is there in other areas, so why not on the sidelines? Those managers are every bit as important to player engagement as the footballers themselves.
