FIFA 20 Review: 7 Ups & 3 Downs
6. Career Mode (Up)
For so long, so so so so so long, Career Mode has been little but an afterthought for installments of FIFA. Replaced as a novelty by online gaming a decade ago, and more recently by Ultimate Team and The Journey as a development priority, FIFA20 sees it get a little bit more love. Not a lot, but enough.
Specifically, the notion of Team Morale now comes into play, whereby matches, results, and season goals will affect the happiness of your players. Most interestingly though, you'll now have questions put to you by the press before and after games, and how you conduct yourself will impact the morale of specific players as well as the squad as a whole.
This isn't a groundbreaking new feature, and certainly doesn't push FIFA towards Football Manager in terms of psychological squad micromanagement, but it's a refreshing new feature that will allow you to get your own personality into the campaign. After all, certain players will just not gel with your management style, and you'll eventually want to assemble a squad who better fit your footballing identity.
