That 35 defending is appalling for a player who does way more tracking back for Napoli than EA's stat sheet indicates. Indeed, Mertens is actually quite adept at going box-to-box, although he has admittedly found his place up top for the Italian side because of his deadly combination of quick one-two passing and shooting.

It might seem odd to whine about someone who's just been handed an overall rating of 85, but the Belgian could easily be an 86 or 87. Maybe he would be if EA didn't think he was this generation's Matt Le Tissier and never bothered about defending.

He's a better player than #70 Memphis Depay, that's for sure.
