8. Origins Of Shinra
The Shinra Electric Power Company is the overall main antagonist in the Remake, the evil corporation sucking the energy from the planet without any concern of the lasting damage that may cause. In Chapter 16, Cloud and his friends infiltrate the Shinra Building to rescue Aerith.
At one point, your group enters an exhibition hall with different exhibits describing each division of Shinra. On one wall there is a photo of a large group. If you look carefully at the front row, you may have noticed one person in a strange mask.
Anyone who's played Final Fantasy X-2 will recognize this figure. In X-2, Yuna meets a masked Al-Bed boy named Shinra who is interested in harnessing the power of the Farplane, a place where the spirits of those who passed are located, to create energy. Though he does admit it would take generations to fully capitalize on such a technology.
There have been speculations for years whether Final Fantasy X-2 shared the same universe as Final Fantasy 7, but developers never really confirmed or denied it.
Could this masked figure be the descendant of Shinra who continued his ancestor's work?
