Final Fantasy VII Remake: 10 Huge Things That Could Go Terribly Wrong

6. Censoring Cid

"Sit your ass down in that chair and drink your goddamn TEA!" With those immortal words the character of Cid Highwind was established. He was rough around the edges, a little crude at times and had a potty mouth that let forth enough expletives to make anyone blush. Gamers instantly fell in love with him. It is inevitable that the remake is going to have a touched up script. Frankly, it's a necessity. However, it's vital that Square Enix do everything that they can to ensure that each individual character maintains their personality. In the case of Cid, this means that they can't censor what comes out of his mouth. While the original game could get away with it by using symbols in place of his swearing - allowing the player to fill in the blanks - with a voice-acted Final Fantasy the company are going to have to give this some thought. Cid being who Cid is, it may lead to a higher age rating for the game - but if your primary market is older gamers looking to relive a brilliant title in the modern age, then you have to ensure that you satisfy them.
