Final Fantasy VII Remake: 10 Huge Things That Could Go Terribly Wrong

7. Losing The Turn-Based Battle System

It's hardly a secret that the direction of the Final Fantasy series in recent years has been a little... 'polarising', to put it politely. In fact, there will be many an RPG fan who will be more than happy to tell you just how much they hate the company's efforts to make their battles feel more like they are happening in real-time, eschewing the old turn-based systems of the past in the process. With a Final Fantasy VII remake, Square Enix have to realise that they will be predominantly appealing to fans of the original game. Sure, there will be some newbies coming along for the ride who want to find out what all of the fuss is about, but their main market will be those who played FF7 so many years ago and have been dying to see it updated ever since. As such, keeping the turn-based battle system in is a must. It's a throwback to the more traditional style of JRPG that so many fans fell in love with over the years in the first place, and will ensure that the remake actually feels like Final Fantasy VII when it comes time to play.
