Final Fantasy XV: 10 Essential Tips & Tricks You Need To Know

4. Experiment With New Magic Combinations

Final Fantasy XV
Square Enix

Final Fantasy XV opens with access to only three types of magic: lightning, fire and ice. It remains to be seen if other elements will become available later in the game, but you won't encounter them outside your first hour, even if they are there somewhere.

Magic elements are absorbed from emerging pockets of enchanted stone. Don't worry about missing them - they're frequent, often each different type are next to the other, and are conveniently often right next to would-be campsites.

Once you have drawn magic, take some time to mix them into various combinations. The more you add, the more potent it becomes, and so the more damage it does. Also, by adding certain items you can give the magic unique effects.

For instance, if you combine a Hi-Potion with Ice, the next time you cast Blizzard and freeze everyone in sight, it will actually heal your allies.

That being said, be careful when casting magic on the battlefield. I warped away from the crowded action and cast lightning amongst the bodies, only to watch in horror as teammates and enemies alike lay twitching on the scorched earth.
