Football Manager 2014 Handheld: 12 Essential Signings You Must Make

3. Andrea Ranocchia

RanocchiaClub: Inter Price: £7.5m Signing the Italian international might seem like a difficult prospect, given that he is playing at Inter, but it's easy to pick him up in the summer at the end of your first season, if you can promise at least Europa League football (though that's not a pre-requisite by any means.) He is a genuine bargain at £7.5m when the likes of Papadopoulis are going for almost three times as much, especially as his Potential Ability rating is a guaranteed 5 stars. Ranocchia is a solid performer, edging on spectacular every game, and crucially he scores goals, thanks to a perfect Heading stats, and a powerful presence from set pieces in particular. After a year or so, the Italian will have become the first player chosen in your team, so valuable is he to any defence, and he stakes a very good claim to be the biggest bargain in the entire game (aside from the attacking options who can score even more valuable goals.)
