The likes of Liverpool will always sniff around him (though they will try and low ball the Germans initially, so there's room to steal a march on them), and that's indication of his value. Play him alongside a more disciplined, more limited defensive midfield partner and a central attacking midfielder and he'll form part of a triangle that just won't be beaten. Particularly not in the creativity terms, as his assist rate is massive even when he doesn't appear to be having great games. Don't buy him for versatility and tinker though: he suits having a team and system built around him.
