Football Manager 2018: 10 Essential Fan Demands It Must Include
8. Greater Manager Customisation
Adding customisable manager avatars was a smart choice that helped make Football Manager feel like a more complete gaming experience. The implementation hasn’t been perfect, however, and while the feature has succeeded in giving FM an extra layer of customisation, its features are thin, flimsy, and unsatisfying.
Users are presented with just a handful of different options for clothing, hair style, facial hair, etc. The customisation tree is so limited that almost every character produced using the system comes out looking the same, regardless of your choices. These features just aren't at a satisfactory level yet, and the majority of these characters emerge looking bug-eyed and distinctly non-human.
FM has never been about graphics, but if they’re going to include this feature in the game, they might as well perfect it. Aesthetics aside, players are also given the opportunity to customise their manager’s mental attributes at the start screen, but these have little noticeable impact on how the game plays. Increasing their importance would be another significant step towards making Football Manager feel like a more personal experience.
